CAMPBELL , CASEY, DOWNING , TITSWORTH posted by Paula Barker on Saturday, September 7, 1996

On Mar 14, 1909, Jessie Newton TITSWORTH married Myrtle DOWNING in Coleman, Tx. The TITSWORTHs were probably farmers. Myrtle's father was a circuit preacher of the Primative Baptists. He had only one leg. His wife's maiden name was CAMPBELL. We know nothing else about the DOWNINGs or the CAMPBELLs except that according to family history a greatgrandmother was to have been given a Confederate land grand around Mineral Wells for helping convince some Indians not to side with the union. Of course she never recieved it. We do not even know which states to follow backward to trace the CAMPBELLs or DOWNINGs. We have the TITSWORTHs back to the 1600's. Jessie Newton's parents were Simon TITSWORTH and his mother was Mary Jane CASEY. They were from Ark. (just in case there is anyone looking for the Titsworths). barker@flash.net. Paula Barker can also be reached at: http:/www.flash.net/~barker

CHILDERS, CHILDRESS, GUNN, NELSON, PEAVY posted by Shirley Norman Gunn on Tuesday, October 22, 1996

Nathan H. GUNN, born 1861, first married Frances CHILDERS/CHILDRESS in or near Austin, Texas. They had a son, Arthur Henry GUNN, born 1893, in or near Austin, and a daughter, Dora GUNN, who married Jim PEAVY. After their divorce, Nathan married Elsie NELSON and they had at least six daughters and one son, named J. W. GUNN. We would like to contact some of this family as we have been unable to find Nathan or his son, Arthur Henry, on a census anywhere. Nathan H. GUNN died in 1938 and is buried beside Elsie NELSON GUNN in Coleman Cemetery. Thank you. Shirley Norman Gunn P. O. Box 88 Barium Springs, NC 28010-0088. sngunn@i-america.net.
