COTHERN, VANN posted by Bernnie on Sunday, January 26, 1997

Hello. I'm looking for an elusive branch on my family tree. The last name is COTHERN. I've seen various spellings to include Cothren, Cotheren, Cotheron, etc. I'm looking for an Andrew Jackson COTHERN, birth, unknown. He was born in Miss, but lived and owned a ranch in Trickham, Coleman Co. Tx. I do know he had two wives. I know nothing of the first wife or her maiden name. Of the Second wife, her name was Lovie VANN. (Family stories say she was at least half indian, either Choctaw or Cherokee) Their Children were Walter b. 10-26-1873 (my G-Grand father), Levi, Letha Lavisa, and Nann. Family stories say Walter's half brothers & sisters were Jack, Bud, Lou, & Becky. (these would be from Andrew Jackson's first marriage. I only know that Walter (b. 10-26-1973) told stories that his father, Andrew Jackson COTHERN, died and was burried in Trickham. Also that he died when he (Walter) was very young, mabey about 12 or 13. (I once was told of a possible date of death on A.J. COTHERN of Jan. 1892, but am unsure of the reliability, and that would make Walter older than 12 or 13 when he died, but who knows???). Walter also said his mother, Lovie VANN, Died and was burried in Trickham, about 5 or 6 years later. I do not know when Andrew Jackson and Lovie VANN were married, but I'm estimating around 1865-1870. If you have any hints that can help give more information on Andrew Jackson COTHERN, Lovie VANN, and their ancestors, please e-mail me at bernnieg@pe.net. Thank you very much. Bernnie bernnieg@pe.net
