VOLUNTEERS
There are many opportunities for people to become involved in the USGenWeb Project and TXGenWeb Project which is dedicated to making geneaological information available on-line for free. Below are several areas where you can get involved. Very few take any special skills other than the desire to help others, meet and work with a lot of great people. Also, you can committ as much or as little time as you'd like to the work. If you'd like to volunteer in any of these areas, click on the desired link to submit an e-mail.
County sponsors are sometimes needed for the TXGenWeb. To find out which counties are in need of sponsors, go to TXGenWeb. County sponsors are also needed for counties in other states. To find out if a county you're interested in is available, go to USGenWeb and select the state where the county is located. Each state page will have instructions on how to volunteer to sponsor a county for that state. Lookups for specific items in one or more counties. If you possess genealogy data such as census information, deeds, wills, etc. you can volunteer to do lookups for people who are seeking specific information. Or if you live in a county seat, near a LDS Family Research Center or other respository of genealogy data you can volunteer to do lookups. If you're interested in volunteering to do lookups for Coleman County, contact me via the e-mail address below, and let me know the type of lookup and data you are willing to do. We ask all our visitors to provide specific information regarding the information they are looking for and limit that to one or two names. Volunteers are needed
who are willing to enter information into a computer to make it available
for other's research. This can be obituaries from the local paper
on a regular basis, marriages, county or regional history, etc. Any
type of information that may be of use in genealogy research is needed
for others to access online. If you are interested in volunteering,
please contact me via e-mail with your interest.
