U.S.Flag   Services for Kenneth B. Byrd, 88, of Lorenzo were at 11:00 AM Monday, October 16, 2006 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lorenzo with the Rev. Charles Hankson officiating. Burial followed in West Side Cemetery in Lorenzo under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.

Kenneth passed away, Wednesday, October 11, 2006 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.

He was born June 12, 1918 in Carthage, Texas to the late Jake and Katie Byrd. In 1969 he married Zettie Kelly in New Mexico.

He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lorenzo where he served as trustee. He had worked as a butcher at Jackson Butcher Shop. He moved to Lorenzo in 1940 from Carthage. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII.

Kenneth is preceded in death by two sons; Jerry Byrd and Kenneth Byrd, Jr. Survivors include; his wife; Zettie of Lorenzo, two sons; Willie Byrd and Robert Byrd both of Lubbock and a daughter; Katie B. Williams of Lubbock, five grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Serving as casket bearers will be Freddie L. Brown, Washington Brown, Sonny Langston, A. Y. Anderson, Lawrence E. Douglas and Wayne Miller.
