Queen Esther Merkledove, a Crosbyton resident for 32 years, was buried Saturday afternoon in the Mount Zion Cemetery following 2 p.m. funeral services in the Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Rev. Frank Williams, pastor, officiated.

Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.

Mrs. Merkledove, 68, was a resident of Crosbyton Care Center.

The former Queen Esther Wiley was born Aug. 1, 1913, in Hillsboro. She and John Henry Merkledove were married in Waco. Mr. Merkledove preceded his wife in death on March 17, 1974.

A housewife, she was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Willie T. Jackson of Lubbock; two daughters, DeLores Williams of Crosbyton and Kercie Barnes of Andrews; one brother, Wilbert Wiley Sr. of Post; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
