Services for Hoyt Chappell, 66, of Crosbyton, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, 1990 in the Crosbyton First United Methodist Church with Rev. Johnnie Williams, retired Methodist minister from Lubbock and Rev. Lester Griffin, pastor of Crosbyton First Baptist Church officiating.
Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Chappell died at 12:20 p.m. Monday, April 2, 1990 in Levelland Methodist Hospital following a lengthy illness.
He was born October 30, 1923 in Ft. Towson, Oklahoma and married Lucyle Noble, March 22, 1945 in Cone, Texas. He was a farmer and a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army. He moved to Crosby County in 1926 from Ft. Towson, Ok.
Survivors include his wife, Lucyle Chappell of Crosbyton; two sons, Russ Chappell of Mansfield, Texas and Gene Chappell of Fort Worth; one daughter, Lenoir Newman of Garden City, Kansas; two brothers, D. Chappell of Fort Worth and Ozell Chappell of Floydada; two sisters, Doris Cox and Joyce Hudgens of Lubbock; six grandchildren; Gayle Newman, Brad Newman, Dusty Chappell, Lanice Chappell, Cory Chappell, Todd Chappell.
