Services for Clyde Davis, 79 years, 11 months, and 28 days, died Aug. 15, 1999, in Lubbock at Covenant Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 17, 1919, in Haskell. He married Virginia Heath on Sept. 28, 1940, in Stamford.
Funeral services were held Aug. 17, 1999 at the First Baptist Church in Crosbyton with the Rev. Lester B. Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Clyde and Virginia moved to Crosby County in 1951 and from Lorenzo to Crosbyton in January 1955.
He was the Justice of the Peace, Precinct #2 for 19 years, from 1975 to 1994; the County Veterans Officer, manager of Crosbyton Rural Development, part time manager of West Texas Gin and vice president of the Board of Directors and a farmer all his life. He was also a member of the Crosbyton Lions Club where he served as treasurer in the past years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was voted Crosbyton Citizen through the Years in 1994. Farmer of the Year in 1965 and Soil Conservation Man of the Year in 1996. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Denny Davis of Buffalo Lake and Steve Davis of Abilene; a daughter, Judy Ogle of Crosbyton; two brothers, I.B. Davis of Ralls and Bruce Davis of Petersburg; three sisters, Mattie Ruth Payne of Greenville, Helen Miller of Haskell and Kathleen Brock of Lubbock; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church of Crosbyton and the Crosbyton Lions Club.
