Memorial services for Mrs. Viola Johnston were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ with Loyd Hall of Gatesville and Curtis Mayberry of Capetown, South Africa, officiating.
Glen Gray, minister of the local Church of Christ, was in charge of graveside services at Crosbyton Cemetery. Adams Funeral Home directed arrangements.
Mrs. Johnston, 76, was claimed by death at 6:35 a.m. Monday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. She had been in failing health for several months.
The former Viola Myrtle Robertson was born July 26, 1906 in Claude but spent her childhood years in Ralls.
She and Joe E. Johnston, a Crosby County resident since 1909, were married July 7, 1928, in Floydada. Mrs. Johnston had been a Crosbyton community resident since her marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Johnston had resided since 1946 on their farm, two miles west of Crosbyton.
Viola Johnston was an active member of the Church of Christ and LCC Associates.
She is survived by her husband, Joe E.; two sons, Joseph E. Johnston and Ramon Johnston, both of Crosbyton; one daughter, Julia Montgomery of Crosbyton; one brother, Ruben Robertson of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; and one great grandson.
