Jimmy was born in Slaton, TX on November 6, 1957. In 1965 the family moved to Johnson, Kansas where he grew up and graduated from Stanton Co. High School in 1976. He worked on the family farm for many years. He married Marlene Elisabeth Nickerson in Feb. 1980. On August 31, 1980, his daughter Krystal Dawn was born. For the last 17 years Jimmy was an owner/operator of his own trucking company, recently known as J. McCray Transport, where he hauled cars across the United States. His favorite activities included riding his Harley Davidson and "water-snoddling", his version of jet skiing.
He passed away in Ralls, Texas on July 21, 2009 due to complications of a stroke. He was 51 years old. Services were at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Adams Funeral Home in Crosbyton with Rev. Ken Horn chaplain of hospice officiating. Burial was in Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his dad Jerry Glenn, grandparents, Ardis and Minnie McCray and Jack and Naomi Mayes.
Survivors include his mother, Janelle McCray of Crosbyton, daughter, Krystal Dawn McCray of Garden City, KS, two sisters Joy Loader and husband Charles of Smithville, TN, Jana Beauchamp and husband Kevin of McPherson, KS, aunts, Glenda King and husband Henry of Ransom Canyon, Laura "Lolly" Hand and husband Bill of Spearman, Alice Reed and husband Ronnie of Lubbock and uncle Gary "Butch" McCray and wife Jo of San Angelo, three nephews Shane Loader of Garden City, KS, Brandon and Jeremy Loader of Smithville, TN, a great niece Alexia Summer Loader of Smithville, TN, 11 cousins and several second cousins.
Memorials can be made to Special Olympics of Kansas in honor of his oldest nephew Shane Loader.
