Obituary
CROSBYTON (Special) - Services for R. Clarence Ratheal, 82, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church with C. Melvin Ratheal of Youngtown, Ariz.; the Rev. R.C. Hester, pastor of the Pansy Baptist Church; and the Rev. Leo Willard, pastor of the McAdoo Baptist Church, officiating.Burial will be in the Crosbyton Cemetery under the direction of Adams Funeral Home.
Ratheal, a native of Waco, died at 10:25 a.m. Tuesday in the Crosbyton Hospital after a brief illness.
He came to the Pansy community in 1914 and married Rella Mary Starrett there Aug 3, 1919. He was a farmer and deacon of the Pansy Baptist Church, trustee of Leatherwood School, and a director of Floydada Lighthouse Electric Co.
He helped organize and was president of the Crosbyton Senior Citizens Club where he was named the 1977 Citizen of the Year. He was a member of the Lions Club and had served on the board of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service here. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner.
Survivors include his wife; a son, C. Melvin of Youngtown, Ariz.; two daughters, Winnell Hardin and Mary Havens of McAdoo; a brother, Alvie of Crosbyton; a sister, Jeannie Moore of Crosbyton; six grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
