Services for Alene Thornhill, 81, of Crosbyton were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in the Crosbyton First Baptist Church with Rev. Les Griffin, pastor, officiating.

Burial followed in the Crosbyton Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.

Mrs. Thornhill died at 6:40 a.m. Sunday, April 19, 1998, in the Crosbyton Nursing Home following an illness.

She was born June 17, 1916, in Floyd County and married Truett E. "P.Z." Thornhill Nov. 5, 1933, in Lockney. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1978. She is also preceded in death by a son, Tommy Ray Thornhill who died April 6, 1974, and by two sisters, Floy Moore and Georgia Newman.

She was a member of the Crosbyton First Baptist and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Crosbyton Chapter #891 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She owned and operated the West Side Cafe in Crosbyton for many years and worked at Adams Funeral Home for several years retiring in 1993 due to ill health. She moved to Crosby County in January of 1917 and had lived in Crosby County most of her life.

Survivors include a son, Donald Wayne Thornhill of Crosbyton; two sisters, Alma "Bill" Winegar of Farmersville and Nellie Winegar of Crosbyton; a grandson, Bobby Don Thornhill of Gainesville; three adopted grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
