Rosary for Jessie M. Chavez, 64, of Lorenzo were held at 7:30 p.m. Friday in San Lorenzo Catholic Church.

Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday in the same church.

Burial followed in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Chavez died at 12:05 p.m. Thursday in Lubbock´s St. Mary of the Plains Hospital after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Texas and moved to Lorenzo in 1941. He married Dora Alicia Landin on October 7, 1962, in Lubbock. He was a farmer and had worked for Lorenzo Textile Mills. He was a member of San Lorenzo Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Society.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Chris, George, Gabriel and Michael, all of Lorenzo; a daughter, Teresa Alice Vasquez of Ralls, three brothers, Jose and Manuel, both of Lubbock and Julian of Sylmar, Calif.; two sisters, Victoria Manicas of South Bend, Ind., and Juanita Loyoza of Hereford; and six grandchildren.
