Services for Joe David Darden, 62, of Lorenzo were held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, September 2, 2003 at the Lorenzo Church of Christ with Rev. Brad Swygard officiating and Rev. Dennis Williams assisting.Masonic Graveside Rites were in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Lorenzo.
He died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock. He was born August 6, 1941 in Wellington, Texas to Joe Ernest and Bill Bennett Darden. He married Carolyn Wallace on September 3, 1961 in Lorenzo.
He was a member of the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls and former member of the Lorenzo Church of Christ. He was a past master of the Lorenzo Masonic Lodge and present master of the Ralls Masonic Lodge and worked for the Department of Human Services. He moved to Lorenzo 25 years ago from Longview.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn of Lorenzo, a son, Joe Willard and his wife Tracy of St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter Jeannette Darden Swygard and her husband Brad of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, a sister Susan Butler and her husband Steve of Canyon, four grandchildren; Sarah, Joel David and John Swygard and Joe Adam Darden.
Pallbearers will be Larry Wallace, Dale Wallace, Steve Butler, John Alf Thomas, Jerry Robertson and Larry Wampler.
