Funeral For William O. Gestes, Sr. Held

Funeral services for William Oscar Gestes, Sr., 86, of Lorenzo at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lorenzo First Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Golden, pastor, and Travis Boyd, minister, Lorenzo Church of Christ, officiating.

Burial was in the Lorenzo Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home in Ralls.

Gestes died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday at Methodist Hospital in Lubbock after a lengthy illness.

Born in Mollett, Okla. he married Ora L. Nichols on Nov. 23, 1927, in Floydada. He was a retired building contractor and was a member of the Lorenzo First Baptist Church. He had lived in Lorenzo since 1945.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, W. O. Jr. of Plainview, Thomas of Livingston, J. M. of Fort Worth, and Jack and John of Lorenzo; a daughter, Anne Parchman of Seagraves; six sisters, Hettie Titus, Pearl Witherspoon and Ruby Wood of Amarillo, Edna Wessling and Eunice Skinner of Mission, and Marie Nichols of La Mirado, Calif; 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Grandsons will be pallbearers.
