Services for Carlene Barr Petersen, of Lorenzo were held at 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 1992, in Lorenzo First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Golden, pastor, and Travis Boyd, a retired Church of Christ minister, officiating.Burial was in Lorenzo Cemetery under direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.
Mrs. Petersen died at 11:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 1992, at her residence after a lengthy illness. James Isbell, Justice of the Peace, ruled the death natural causes. She had been under a doctor's care.
She was born in Altus, Oklahoma, and moved to Lorenzo from Albuquerque, NM, in 1951. She graduated from Robertson High School and attended Texas Tech University. She married Lt. Mart Ferrell Ford on July 4, 1942, in Ralls. He died in 1944. She married J.R. Petersen on Jan. 19, 1947, in Amarillo. She worked at Lorenzo State Bank and Don's Pharmacy.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Ferrelene King of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her mother and stepfather, Rubie B. and V.H. Melton of Lubbock; a brother, Lewis C. Barr of Harlingen; a sister, LaHonda Sanders of Lubbock; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
