Dave L. Benton was born July 29, 1888 in Coleman. His parents were Dave H. and Luella Hinson Benton. The Benton family moved to Crosby County in 1908.
Lenna Oldham was born July 19, 1889. Her parents were E. M. and Heppsey Clark Oldham of Burleson County. Lenna came to visit her sister, Leona Garrison of Floydada in 1908. Lenna also visited in the Emma community, where she met Dave Benton. Lenna and Dave were married July 14, 1909.
Dave and Lenna have two sons, Tom Ed born April 23, 1910 and David L. born October 18, 1928.
Tom Ed married Jimmie Botkins, September 18, 1929 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Dave Benton had farms in Crosby, Floyd and Lubbock counties. He was in wholesale oil, grocery and drug store business in the early 1930´s the family lived in Dimmitt. Dave purchased a ranch near Stephenville and moved there for a time. The family returned to Crosby County when Dave bought a grocery store in Crosbyton. They moved back to Ralls where he lived until his death March 17, 1954.
Lenna Benton lived in Lubbock. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Funeral services for David Lafayette Benton, 65, who died in his sleep at his home in Ralls Tuesday, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Emma Church of Christ in Ralls.
M. Norvel Young, minister of the Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock will officiate.
Burial will be in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of the Marr-Carter Funeral home.
Benton was a retired merchant. He had lived in the Ralls area since 1900, moving here from Coleman County. He operated a grocery business in Crosbyton at one time.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Ed of Ralls and David L., Jr., of Lubbock; three sisters, Mrs. D.Y. Blanton, Lubbock; Mrs. R.H. Banowsky, Fort Worth, and Mrs. J.M. Rankin of Ralls; one brother, Claude Benton, Ralls; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

RALLS (Special) - Services for Lenna O. Benton, 95, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Emma Church of Christ with Loy Hardesty, pastor, and Horace Coffman, minister of Broadway Church of Christ in Lubbock, officiating.
Burial will be in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Carter-Adams Funeral Home.
She died at 4:25 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary´s Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She married David L. Benton on July 14, 1909. He died in 1954. She was the oldest member of the Emma Church of Christ. She lived in the Ralls Nursing Home.
Survivors include two sons; Tom Ed of Granite Shoals and David L. Jr. of Lubbock; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
