Pete ChavezFuneral services for Pete Chavez, 80, of Ralls, will be on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007 at 10 a.m. at St. Michaelís Catholic Church with Rev. Jesse Cruz officiating. Rosary will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Guajardo Funeral Chapels.

Burial will be at Ralls cemetery under the direction of Guajardo Funeral Chapels.

He was born on April 7, 1926 in Garland, Ark. He married Isabel Martinez on Feb. 2, 1945 in Rosebud, Texas.

Mr. Chavez moved from Ark in 1942 to Rosebud, in 1953 moved to Crosby County and farmed in Lorenzo and Ralls for 31 years, where he helped to established St. Michaelís Catholic Church. He was also a promoter of dances and introduced Little Joe y La Familia to West Texas. He loved and helped many people. He loved God, his family and friends.

Survivors include: his wife Isabel Chavez of Ralls; Son: Pete Chavez Jr. (Rose) of Ralls; Daughters: Lydia Gonzales of Ralls, Virginia Fernandez of San Antonio, Josie(Valentin) Villafranco of Lubbock; One sister: Maria Zarazua of Ralls; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
