Nelton Chote

Nelton ChoteU.S.Flag   Graveside services for Nelton Dale Chote, 83, of Ralls were at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 4, 2006 at the Ralls Cemetery with Jimmy Moore officiating. Arrangements were under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Ralls.

Nelton passed away Saturday, September 2, 2006 at the Lubbock Heart Hospital.

He was born on November 6, 1922 in Ralls, Texas to the late Ira James and Mamie Gladys (Bennett) Chote. On September 19, 1943 he married Gladys "Gad" Stevens in Ralls. She preceded him in death on Nov. 7, 1990.

He was a farmer and had lived in the Ralls area all his life. Nelton was a member of the Emma Church of Christ. He served as Crosby County Commissioner for 12 years, served on the Ralls School Board as President, and the Owens Coop Gin Board. He was instrumental in organizing the Crosby County Livestock Association. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII.

Survivors include; a son; Dale of Lubbock, a daughter and her husband Dannie and Mike Carlisle of Lubbock, a sister; Nomagene Harrington of Beaumont, five grandchildren; Scott Carlisle of Amarillo, Skipper Carlisle of Lubbock, Joe Ben Chote of Lubbock, Cele Rogers of Lubbock, Dakota Chote of Ralls and five great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Emma Church of Christ P. O. Box 189 Ralls, Texas 79357.
