Rites Arranged For Joe Chron

RALLS (Special) - Services for Joe Nathan Chron, 40, who drowned Thanksgiving Day in Big Ben National Park, will be at 3 p.m. today in the Emma Church of Christ.

James Eubanks, minister, and D.C. Lawrence and Douglas Lawler, both former ministers, will officiate. Burial will be in Ralls Cemetery under direction of Carter Funeral Home.

Chron was reported missing on Thanksgiving Day and his body was found Wednesday in Boquillas Canyon in the Big Ben National Park.

The body was found by a group of Mexican nationals some seven miles from the spot where his boat overturned while on a Boy Scout outing.

Chron was one of the sponsors for the trip, which involved about three dozen persons.

He was an elder in the Emma Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Berta Fay; two sons, Tony Joe and Kelly Brad, of the home; a daughter, Deborah of the home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Chron of Ralls; four brothers, V. Allen and E.C., both of Anchorage, Alaska, Bob of Phoenix and Ivan of Granbury; a sister, Mrs. Minnie Orm of Weatherford.
