Funeral services for Albert J. Dozier, 69, pioneer resident of Dickens, who died last Wednesday in his home, were conducted Thursday, June 16, at 2:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Dickens, with the Rev. H.L. Burnham officiating, assisted by Rev. A.P. Stokes.Mr. Dozier's death came after a heart attack. He had been in ill health for several months.
Burial was in the Ralls Cemetery under the direction of Chandler Funeral Home, Spur.
The deceased had been a resident of Dickens County since 1916. He was a retired blacksmith and had made his home in Afton a number of years before moving to Dickens.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lily Bell Dozier of Dickens; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Jackson of Phoenix, and Mrs. Lora Crutchfield of Amarillo; two sons, Chesley and Fred, both of Ralls; five brothers, T.L. Dozier of McAdoo, J.R. Dozier of Seagraves, W.W. Dozier of Dumont, Henry Dozier of Waco, and Ed Dozier of Spur; two sisters, Mrs. Florrie Cavitt of Dickens and Mrs. W.J. Johnson of Roswell, New Mexico; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Paul Bateman, Bass Bateman, Orville Cunningham, Lawton Harvey, Roy Ward and Frank Murphy.
