Our chapter was named for Daniel Braman, ancestor of Mrs. Ellen Braman Miller, Organizing Regent.

The chapter formed following the appointment of Mrs. Ellen Braman Miller as Organizing Regent in January 1971, being confirmed in only three months.  Mrs. Charles R. Perkins was the State Regent.  She was also a first cousin of Mrs. Miller and was a major factor in introducing the Daughters of the American Colonists to Victoria, TX.

The initial meeting of interested women was held in the home of Mrs. Zia Crowell Miller at 206 W. Stayton in February.  Mrs. Grady Kirby of Houston attended and assisted with application forms.  Mrs. Richard Grammar of Fort Worth, National Registrar for DAC, helped to research and complete many of the applications.

Originally, there were three names submitted to the National Board for consideration and Daniel Braman was accepted for the chapter's name.  On April 12, 1971 during the DAC General Assembly, the Board met and voted confirmation of our new chapter.

Prospective members were meeting at the Miller home on Lone Tree Road when a "Call" came from Washington, D.C. announcing the admittance of the Daniel Braman Chapter and approval of seventeen new applicants into the National Society.
