Billie [Billy] Dale Tennison, 14 year old Dickens youth died in Stanley clinic in Matador about two hours after he had shot himself in the head in a bedroom of his home.Funeral services were held in the First Baptist Church of Dickens, Tuesday, April 16 at 4 p.m. Rev. Victor Crabtree officiating.
The boy, son of Mrs. Bonnie Ann Jackson and Curtis J. Tennison, who is serving with the army in Alaska, had just finished eating had entered his bedroom when members of his family heard the shot.
The shooting apparently was accidental, and no inquest was made.
Survivors include the parents, four brothers, Bobby Joe, Wayne, Delbert, Jerry; and one step-brother,[half-brother] Danny Charles Jackson.
Pallbearers were Arthur Thomason, Ira Clower, Franklin Whitehurst, Carl Shaw, John Jackson, Felix Hash and Don Atchison.
Classmates who were flower bearers were Linda McBride, Inell Lewis, Freddie Hawley, Ruth Chesney, Wanda Wright, Lynna Arthur and Nancy Flood.
Interment was in the Dickens cemetery Wednesday, April 16, following the arrival of the youth's father. Arrangements were under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.
