Funeral services for William Nathan Thacker, a retired road maintenance employee, were held January 25 in the First Baptist Church, Dickens at 2 .p.m. Rev. Billie Williams, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Crosbyton officiated, assisted by Rev. C.L. Atkinson, pastor of the Dickens Baptist church.Mr. Thacker died January 23 at his home in Idalou. He came to Dickens County in 1911 and moved from here to Idalou in 1942. He was a veteran of World War I and was a member of the Methodist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Emma Thacker, Idalou; two daughters, Opal Shetter, Dickens, Dena Kirby, Idalou; a son, William Darrell Thacker, Dallas; a brother, Herman Thacker, Payton, AZ; three sisters, Mrs. Cora Seward, Kansas City, KS; Mrs. Essie Fullbright, CA,; Mrs. Thelma Gunn, Ute, OR; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Jerry Thacker, Jimmy Harber, Gary Kirby, Ronnie, Kirby, Andy O'Neal and Jack Thacker.
Burial was in Dickens Cemetery.

Funeral services for Emma Lee Thacker, 77, formerly of Dickens, were held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Dickens, with Rev. Clifford Mayo, Afton, officiating; assisted by Rev. C. L. Atkinson, Dickens.Mrs. Thacker, of Idalou, died Wednesday, February 1, 1984 in the Crosbyton Care Center following a lengthy illness. Born in Boswell, Oklahoma, she came to Dickens County in 1916 and lived here until 1942 when she moved to Idalou. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband preceded her in death in January of 1980.
Survivors include one son, William Darrell Thacker, Dennison; two daughters, Mrs. Opal Shetter, Dickens, and Mrs. Nina Jo (Dena) Kirby, Idalou; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Dickens Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Grandsons served as pallbearers.
