Services for Wanda Earl Wilke, 63, of White River Lake, were at 2 p.m. September 8, 1991 in the Dickens Baptist Church. Rev. C. A. Luke, Levelland pastor, officiated, he was assisted by Rev. Tim Miers, pastor of the White River Lake Church.Burial was in Dickens Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Wilke was dead on arrival at Garza County Hospital about 11:50 a.m. September 7. Death was listed as cardiac arrest following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 8, 1927 in Dickens County and had resided the past seven years at White River Lake after moving there from Petersburg. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.
She married Walter Wilke on August 22, 1970 in Clayton, NM.
Survivors include her husband, Walter Wilke, White River Lake; two sons, Randal Stanley, Dumas and Edward Stanley, Seminole; one step-son, Harley Wilke, Dallas; (another step-son, Marlis Wilke, preceded her in death); four daughters, Brenda Sweet, Nancy Standifer and Margaret Loafman, all of Levelland; Kay Evans, Fluvanna; one step-daughter, Delores Heller, Dimmitt; three brothers, H. L. Hoagland, Amarillo; C. L. Atkinson, Afton; Don Atkinson, Post; four sisters, Ouida Gunnels, Idalou; Maurine Reynolds, Bloomfield, NM; Bobbie Hix, Kingfisher, Okalahoma and Elmyra Greenwood, Spur; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Palmer Gibson, Bill Joiner, Manuel Armendariz, Barry Atkinson, Jeff Atkinson and Clint Hale.
