Obituary

At the Baptist Church at Dickens, funeral services were held February 22 for Jesse R. Williams, with Rev. Dock Love and Jack Wester officiating.

Jesse R. Williams was a well-known old timer in this section having moved to Dickens county in 1931 and living for many years between Dickens and Spur. he was born Nov. 11, 1885, in Hamilton Co. TX and was married in 1925 to Dollie Brooks at Sweetwater, TX. He passed away at 8:30 a.m. on February 21, 1946.

Pallbearers were Buran Jones, Henry Slack, Leslie Estep, Alton Estep, Robert Cannon and Cliff Hinson. Interment was in the Dickens cemetery with Chandler Funeral Home in charge.

Surviving Mr. Williams are his wife, his mother, Mrs. Sarah Springer of Clyde; two sons: J. R. and Zane, at home; 4 daughters, Aline Williams, Abilene; Nayta Davis, Clyde; Nosha Dick, Clyde and Jessie Williams, at home; 4 brothers: Artie, Earl, Hudie and Harvey; one sister, Mrs. Pearl Springer, Morton; six step-children: Rilia O'Kelley of Chico; V. O. McAllister of Jackson, Mich; Myrtle Crawford of Clyde; Lois Gabbert of Clyde; Stella Green of Brownfield; Marshall Brooks of Chico and 40 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dollie Williams were held Friday at the Bethel Baptist Church. Rev. J.E. Lee officiating.

Mrs. Williams died last Wed. following a brief illness. She has been a resident since 1940.

Survivors include three sons, Marshall Brooks, Chico; J.R. Williams, Floydada; Zane Williams, Brownfield; six daughters, Mrs. Florialla O'Kelley, Chico; Mrs. Vida Orilla McAllister, Michigan, Myrtle Crawford, Tucson, AZ, Lois Gabbert, Hagerman, NM; Mrs. Stella Zeigler, Brownfield and Mrs. Jessie Alldredge, Spur.

Interment was in Dickens Cemetery.

Pallbearers included Eugene Pierce, Alvis Bilberry, Henry Slack, William Gabbert, Randy Clifton and Bill Hale.
