McAdoo - Mary Ruth (Tooke) Phifer, 72, of Lubbock passed away on Aug. 13, 1989 at the Crosbyton Clinic Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born March 27, 1917 at Paris, TX. and moved to McAdoo with her family in 193l. She married Willie Weldon Phifer Jan. 2, 1933 in McAdoo. Willie died May 5, 1985. Ruth and Willie moved from McAdoo to Lubbock after they retired from farming around 1975.
Ruth was a member of the McAdoo Baptist Church. Her survivors include two brothers, Goldie Tooke of Crane and Dexter Tooke of Boring, OR.; two sisters, Lillian (Tooke) Milstead and Beulah (Tooke) Skelton, both of Pontotoc, MS.
