Army Air Corp. World War IIDorothea, daughter of Alcie Wade and Inez Butler was born in May 1926. She attended Kilgore Jr. College in Mississippi and Texas Tech in Lubbock. She married Marvin Tidwell, who was working for the Texas Company. In 1952 Dot and Marvin moved to the R.B. Butler farm on the Dickens-Crosby county line and became an active part of the McAdoo Community. A son William Wade was born, he married Marlene Sparks, they have one son, Billy Ray. Second son, Robert Rae Tidwell married Marcelle King, they have two daughters, Carly and Christi.Marvin established the McAdoo Flying Service and does commercial spraying and flying over a wide area. Both he and the boys have diversified farming interests.

Services for Marvin Tidwell, 74 of McAdoo were held at 1 p.m. Friday Sept. 25, 1998 at the McAdoo First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Wendell Horn of Floydada officiating. Burial was in the McAdoo Cemetery under direction of Adams Funeral Home of Crosbyton.He died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, at Lubbock's Methodist Hospital.
He was born June 15, 1924, in Weatherford, TX. He married Dorothea "Dot" Butler on June 12, 1948, in Midland, TX. She died July 30, 1991.
He was a member of the McAdoo First United Methodist church. He was a former member of the McAdoo School Board. he was instrumental in building the McAdoo Drilling co. He was a spray pilot and a commercial pilot and in 1963 he founded McAdoo Flying Service. He served in the Army Air Corps in WWII as a crew chief on a B24 aircraft in 40 missions in the South Pacific and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal. The last two or three missions he flew were over Japan one week before the end of WWII. He moved to McAdoo in 1952 from Freer, TX.
Survivors include: two sons; Bill Tidwell of Crosbyton and Bob Tidwell of McAdoo; one brother, LeRoy M. Tidwell of Weatherford; five sisters, Dessie Mack of Weatherford, Katherine Vaderill of Charleston SC, Patsy Simpson of Weatherford, Mazie Conley of Lubbock, and Jean Hudgens of Weatherford; four grandchildren.
