Billy was born December 3, 1922. Johnnie passed away in 1972. As Elsie recalls the early days in McAdoo in her own words, "I have been in this country sixty-one years. Johnnie passed away in 1972. We saw lots of changes in this country. There is lots of farm land now that was just grass land then. To go to Floydada we just went across pastures as far as Lakeview and then we'd strike a dirt road. We don't have sand storms now like we did then. I've swept it up with a grain shovel and carried it out by the tub fulls. This is the best place in the world. We've seen good times and bad times, happy times and sad times, good crops and bad crops. A few times we could not plant, it was too dry, but we always managed to live on. The Lord always blesses and takes care of us. We sent children to McAdoo school for twenty-eight years. Then two of our grandchildren started and graduated at Mcadoo. Other of the grandchildren also went to school but did not graduate there."
Elsie lives in McAdoo now and is still active in church and always has a welcome smile for all.
