A. J. Wright Dies in Wreck In California

Funeral services for A. J. Wright, 48, a former resident of Spur, were held here in the Church of Christ, last Thursday, August 28. Robert Bankhead, minister, officiated.

Wright was killed in an automobile accident at Porterfield, Calif., August 21.

Burial was in Red Mud cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Pete Gannon, Sam Shackleford, Ab Smith, Charles Scott, C. E. Ballard and Buck Thompson.

Wright, who lived at Stinnett, was on vacation with his family in California when he was killed in the accident. He was born Nov. 2, 1909 in Johnson County, Texas.

Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Wright, his wife, Helen Wright, Stinnett; a son, Thurman Ed Wright, Stinnett; five sisters, Mrs. Lela Jenkins, Dallas; Mrs. Clara Fisher, Gary, Okla., Mrs. Elsie Wallace, Modesto, Calif., Mrs. Inez Elkin, Big Spring, Mrs. Pauline Holmes, of Kansas; four brothers, Roy, Kermit, Paul, U.S. Army stationed in Germany, Vernon and Elmer, both of Spur.
