The 16x24 inch bronze plaque reads:
McAdoo
Named for William G. McAdoo, Secretary of the Treasury, was established one mile west of the present location in 1915. It moved to the present location in 1917 and became a thriving farm community. Baptist, Church of Christ and methodist churches flourished.

The first school was in a home. In 1910, Prairie View was built one mile south and later Crazy Flat was built farther south. In 1914 these schools were combined and moved to this location. A brick building housed the school from 1928 until it closed in 1985.
