Dr. R.L. Alexander and Mrs. Alexander were married September 27, 1903 at Hamilton, Texas. He first practiced medicine in both Kent and Dickens Counties until about 1950, when he moved to Spur and continued his practice there.
Dr. Alexander was active in Civic and church affairs both in Jayton and Spur. He was Mayor of Jayton, president of the school board and served on the city council there.
In 1961, Dr. Alexander was awarded a life membership in Spur Masonic Lodge. He has been active in Masonary since 1905. All of his sons are Masons. He was a permanent honorary member of the boards of Stewards of the First Methodist church.
Their children are Mrs. Bernice Cochran; William L., Jack, Max, Rex, Dr. Joe, Dr. Ted and Dr. Bob.
They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September, 1963, and he died in October, 1963.

Funeral services for a pioneer area physician, Dr. Raymon L. Alexander, 81, will be held at the First Methodist Church at 3 p.m. Thursday afternoon, Rev. W.D. McReynolds, pastor, will officiate.
Dr. Alexander died at his home about midnight Tuesday, October 15th.
Born in Meridian in 1882, he was the son of Captain and Mrs. T.C. Alexander. He graduated from Ft. Worth Medical school and was married to the former Eunice Duncan in Hamilton in 1903. He began practice as a physician and surgeon in 1905. The couple made their home in Jayton until 1927 when the family moved to Spur. Dr. Alexander was a member of the Methodist Church, Life member of Spur Masonic Lodge and Maskat Shrine Temple. He was retired from active practice, but continued to see a few patients up until his recent illness.
Survivors include his wife, and daughter, Bernice Cochran, Denver City; seven sons: W.L., Ft. Worth, Dr. Bob, Spur; Jack, Big Spring; Rex, Jayton; Dr. Ted, Wichita Falls; Dr. Joe, Abilene and Max, Spur.
One brother survives, Dr. Lin Alexander, Okmulgee, OK and one sister, Mrs. John Bain, Atlanta, GA, along with 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will include Weldon Grimes, Martin Pope, H.D. Black, Robert Reynolds, Med Wade, Gordon Hamilton; R.J. Bell, Frank Watson, Raymond Powell and Hobert Lewis. Burial will be in Spur Cemetery.

Services Held Here For Mrs. Alexander
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist church for Mrs. Eunice Duncan Alexander, 88.
Rev. Howard Marcom officiated at the service. He was assisted by Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor of the First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Alexander died June 2. She was married to Dr. R.L. Alexander in Meridian in 1903. The couple moved to Jayton in 1914 and made their home there until 1938 when they moved to Spur.
She was a member of the Methodist Church and was one of the last surviving United Daughters of the Confederacy. She was also a charter member of the Coahoma Eastern Star and a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Bernice Cochran, Spur; seven sons, W.L., Ft. Worth; Dr. Bob and Max, Spur; Jack, Big Spring; Rex, Jayton; Dr. Ted, Wichita Falls, and Dr. Joe of Abilene.
Also surviving are 22 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and two great-great grands.
Pallbearers included Pete Samson, Layette Robinson, Buddy Wright, Bill Barrett, R.J. Bell, Rueben Waddell, Robert Reynolds and J.Don Rickels.
Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.
