Clearance and Edna were married in Weatherford, TX in 1916. They moved from Brazos to Crowell, Texas where Clearance had the Chevrolet Agency. In 1936 the family which consisted of Dupree and James Victor moved to Spur where Clearance opened Allen Auto Supply across the street from the old Caraway Chevolet Agency. They lived in the building behind the auto store.Clearance made his living with the store, but his first priority was preaching the gospel. He helped establish several congregations of the Church of Christ in the vicinity of Spur.
Clearance died November 23, 1973 and Edna died December 18, 1977.
Funeral services for Mrs. Edna Viola Allen, 83, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Hill Street Church of Christ, Van Cash, minister, officiating.Mrs. Allen died Dec 18 in the Crosbyton Hospital. A resident of Dickens County for 41 years, Mrs. Allen came to Spur from Crowell in 1936. She married the late C.V. Allen in Weatherford in 1916.
She is survived by two sons, Dupree T. Allen, Houston and James Victor Allen, New York City. Four grandchildren and one great grandchild also survive.
Burial was in the Spur cemetery.
