Bill Carlisle PhotoU.S.Flag   Bill Carlisle, 82, of Spur, formerly of Post died Friday, February 3, 2006 in Lubbock. Services were 3:30 p.m., Sunday, February 5, 2006 at First United Methodist Church in Spur with Rev. Lloyd Stice of Post officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Carlisle was born December 29, 1923 in Spur to Brink and Allie Massey Carlisle. He graduated from Spur High School in 1940. Bill married Gwen Adams October 29, 1943. He served in the Army AirCorps during WWII and was part of the "Greatest Generation". He and Gwen moved to Garza County in 1955 where they lived and ranched until 2005 when they moved to Spur. Bill raised ranch and cutting horses, and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Spur.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Carolyn Carlisle Stone; and one brother, A.B. Carlisle.

He is survived by his wife, Gwen of Spur; one granddaughter, Kristi Carruthers of Burnet; one grandson, Cody Carlisle Stone and wife Mary Margaret of Bozeman, Mont.; two Great-grandchildren, Korlee and Carter Carruthers of Burnet; and one brother, Kent Carlisle of Post.

The family suggests memorials to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 415, Spur, TX 79370.
