Rites Held Wed. For "Uncle Jim" Carlisle

Funeral services were held for James Micajah (Uncle Jim) Carlisle, 83, at the First Baptist Church, Spur, on September 26 at 10 a.m.

Rev. Cal C. Wright, pastor of the First Methodist Church officiated assisted by Rev. Alfred P. Ahlman.

Carlisle was born on June 25, 1868 in Georgia. He came to Dickens county in 1890. In 1895 he married Belle Walker in Oklahoma. Mrs. Carlisle preceded her husband in death.

He was converted to the Christian religion early in life and joined the Baptist church.

Nephews served as pallbearers at the funeral. Interment was in Spur cemetery with Chandler Funeral Home in charge.

Survivors are four brothers and five sisters: Mrs. Lizzie Hart of Odessa, W.A. Carlisle of San Angelo, Mrs. Samantha Smith of Spur, Mrs. Lou Hagins of Spur, J.E. Carlisle of Denver City, Mrs. Lucy Stephens of Girard, J.T. Carlisle of El Paso, Mrs. J.A. Swaringen of Spur and C.M. Carlisle of Houston.
