John T. Carlisle Buried Jan. 5

Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.. in the Spur Church of Christ for John Thomas Carlisle, 79, who died in Terrell on January 3.

Percy Parrish, minister of the Girard Church of Christ, directed the service.

Mr. Carlisle, a longtime resident of Lubbock and the South Plains, lived in Dickens County from 1888 to 1924. He was the son of the late Jonas Carlisle, of the Duck Creek community. Mr. Carlisle was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lois Carlisle, Garland; three daughters, Mrs. Vance Brown, Arlington, Calif; Mrs. Hubert Raney, Garland and Mrs. Shelton Hardin, Anton: one son, John H. Carlisle, Carrollton; four sisters, Mrs. Samantha Smith, Spur; Mrs. Lou Hagins, Spur; Mrs. Lucy Stephens, Spur, Mrs. Laura Swaringen, Spur; two brothers, J.E. Carlisle, Andrews and C.M. Carlisle, Houston; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were J.T. Stephens, Hub Swaringen, Wray Carlisle, Claude Swaringen, Virgil Smith, and Orwin Stephens.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
