
Funeral services for Mrs. Rex Carlisle, 32, who died in a Lubbock hospital Tuesday, May 16, were held in the First Baptist Church in Spur Friday evening at 6 p.m. with Rev. Wayne Grizzle assisted by Rev. R.T. Barton, officiating.The large gathering of friends and the beautiful floral offerings, attested to the high esteem in which the deceased was held.
Mrs. Carlisle was born and reared in Dickens County in the Croton community.
Pallbearers were Marion Jordan, Dillard Williams, A.L. Hill, Martin Pope, F.F. Vernon and Russell Williams. Flower bearers were Mrs. Marion Jordan, Mrs. Dillard Williams, Mrs. A.L. Hill, Mrs. Martin Pope, Mrs. F.F. Vernon and Mrs. Russell Williams.
Campbell Funeral Chapel had charge of arrangements. Interment was in Spur cemetery.
Mrs. Carlisle was the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. J.H. Hooper. She was married to Rex Carlisle Dec. 21, 1929. Three children were born to them. Della Mafoi, 13, Marion Lea, 6 and Marvin Rex, 4.
Mrs. Carlisle was converted in early life, and united with the Baptist church. She was greatly admired by al who knew her best for her devotion to her family, her loyalty to her Christian ideals, and her kindness to her friends and neighbors.
Those surviving are her husband, three children; her mother, Mrs. J.H. Hooper, Los Angeles, CA; seven brothers: W.S. Ft. Worth; Clarence, Beaumont, Lester, Crane, Chester and Preston, Los Angeles, CA;

Marvin Rex Carlisle, a 11-year-old son, of Mr. And Mrs. Rex Carlisle, was killed about 12 noon Saturday, March 17, when he fell from the horse he was riding after an attempt to ride beneath a clothesline in the Carlisle yard.The boy was rushed to Nichols hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Sunday, in the First Baptist church, with Rev. C.M. Ratheal officiating.
The youth was born June 5, 1940, in Spur, and had lived here always. He joined the Baptist church this year.
Pall bearers were Guy Karr, Leon Reagan, A.V. Hoover, Marion Jordan, Bruce Browning and Joe D. Long.
Survivors include the parents, Mr. And Mrs. Rex Carlisle, and four sisters, Mafoi, Marian, Janie and Nan L.
