Biography

Callie Ella Hufstedler (nee Powell) was born 4 Nov 1870 in Tolar, Hood Co., TX. Her parents were Jasper Powell and Mary Rosie Jones. She died 21 July 1943. Callie´s husband, John David Hufstedler, was the brother of my gr, gr, grandfather, Edward Franklin Hufstedler. John David was born 2 Nov 1869 in Randolph Co. AR, son of Joseph Franklin Hufstedler and Mary Melvina Johnson. He died 10 Oct 1956. J. D. and Callie were married 21 Nov 1897.

J. D. Hufstedler left Arkansas and moved to Hood Co. TX about 1900 to make a better life for himself farming. His brother Edward soon followed. Edward moved on to Dickens Co. TX about 1914 while J. D. and Callie remained in Hood Co.

Obituary

John David Hufstedler who had lived in Dickens County for 44 years of his almost 87 years, died Oct. 10, after a lingering illness which had confined him to his home for several years.

Mr. Hufstedler was born in Arkansas on Nov 2, 1869. He was married to Callie Powell in Hood County, Texas on Nov. 21, 1897. His wife died in 1943. He was converted and joined the Church of Christ early in life.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ with R.C. Copeland officiating, on October 11, 1956, at 3:30 p.m.

Interment was in the Spur Cemetery under the direction of Chandler's Funeral Home.

The deceased is survived by his sisters, Mrs. L.R. Baron and Mrs. B.F. Flake; one brother, Albert Hufstedler; and several nieces and nephews.
