James Perry

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Spur Memorial Cemetery for James Hill Perry, 74, a retired interior decorator.

He died August 13 in Canton. Rev. Darwin Cox, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Spur, officiated.

Born in Stephenville, June 14, 1910, he grew up in Spur where his father owned and operated a hardware store. He attended Southern Methodist University and was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include three cousins, Mrs. Jean Sawyer, Houston; Ernest Friend, Lake Kiowa; Lierena Friend, Wichita Falls.

Perry had lived in Canton for the past five years.
