Services for John Henry Taylor, 83, of Spur, were at 2 p.m. January 11, 1993 in the First United Methodist Church, Spur, with Rev. Bruce Parks, Lubbock (a former Spur pastor) and local pastor Rev. Kenney Kirk, officiating.Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Taylor died January 9, 1993 in the St. Mary of the Plains Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Dublin but had lived in Spur the past 46 years. He married Gertie Miller in Snyder on October 20, 1933. She preceded him in death on November 29, 1988.
Taylor was employed for 32 years by the Soil Conservation Service. He was a member of the Soil Conservation Society, Rotary Club, Lions Club, American Cancer Society (25 years) and served on the Spur City Council for 6 years. He was a graduate of Dublin High School and Teas A&M University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Spur.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
