Funeral services for Joe D. Taylor, 56, will be held today (Thursday) at 4 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, with church pastor, Rev. Norris Taylor officiating, assisted by Rev. John Jenkins, Lorenzo.An auto mechanic, Mr. Taylor died at his home February 29. He had been a resident of Spur since 1943. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gertrude Taylor, Spur; six brothers, Virgil Taylor, Dumas; Bill, Levelland; Raymond, Tulia; Leo, Dumas; Troy, Perryton, Dale of Dumas; five sisters, Mrs. C.J. Murray, Spur; Mr. J.C. Cross, Matador, Mrs. Betty Riley, San Francisco, CA; Mrs. Harold Brantley, Roaring Springs; Mrs. Ross Culbert, Farmington, NM.
Burial will be in the Spur Cemetery.

Ella Gertrude Taylor, 93, of Spur, passed away on Sunday, November 18, 2007. Graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2007 with Rev. Tommy Henderson officiating. Burial was held in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.Ella was born April 24, 1914 to Charles G. and Cora Ann Carter Rogers. She married Joe D. "Baby" Taylor.
Survivors include a niece and nephew.
Ella is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
