Howard Thomas

Howard Thomas Services for Howard Thomas, 84 of Spur were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday September 29, 2001 at First Baptist Church in Spur, with Rev. Richard Harbison officiating. Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.

He died Thursday September 27, 2001 in Lubbock.

Mr. Thomas was born December 28, 1916 in Kent County, Texas. He married Mary Louise Brown on October 4, 1938 in Jayton. She preceded him in death September 30, 1988. He later married Thelma Hankins. He had farmed and ranched in Kent and Dickens Counties his entire life. He was a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Spur; one son, Mike Thomas of Spur, one daughter, Karen Taylor of Lubbock; one sister, Bertha Carlisle of Lubbock; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mary Thomas

Services for Mary Louise Thomas, 68, were held October 3, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with pastor Dr. Genoa Goad officiating.

Mrs. Thomas died September 30 at 8:10 p.m. in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. Born October 31, 1919 in Jayton, she had been a resident of Kent County all her life.

A homemaker, she married Howard Thomas on October 4, 1938 in Jayton. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Howard Thomas, Spur; one son, Mike Thomas, Spur; a daughter, Karen Lawson, Tahoka; one brother, Elmer Brown, Texas City and a sister, Maudle Bogert, Spur; five grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery with Campbell Funeral Home, Spur in charge of arrangements.
