Dorothy D. Thomason, 75, of Waco and longtime former resident of Spur, died Thursday, June 1, 2006, in Waco. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2006, at First United Methodist Church in Spur with Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Burial was in the Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home.Mrs. Thomasan was born November 5, 1930, in Spur to Dick and Grace Allen Boykin. She married David Loyd “Buster” Thomason December 14, 1949, in Idalou. He preceded her in death in 1981. Dorothy was a beautician in Spur for many years. She was very active in the community and church helping with meals on wheels, volunteering at the nursing home and various other activities. She was a member of Spur Church of Christ.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; three infants; one son, David Royce Thomason; and one brother, Joe Ray Boykin.
Dorothy is survived by one daughter, Annette Cantu of Spur; two sisters, Billie Frayer of Waco and Patsy Ann Frye of Thibodaux, LA; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials to South Dickens County Senior Citizens Center, 210 Burlington, Spur, TX, 79370.
