Rites Held For Mrs. Jennie Thurman
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie Cornelia Thurman, 56, who died here at 1:40 Thursday, June 10, were conducted Sunday, June 13, at the Assembly of God Church.The Rev. Pete Adcock, pastor of the Foursquare Church of Spur officiated, assisted by Rev. Vernon Hagar.
Mrs. Thurman, a former Dickens County resident, returned here last January to care for her mother, Mrs. Mollie Walden, who has been in ill health for some time. A native of Caddo, Oklahoma, Mrs. Thurman and her family have resided in El Cajon, California for the past several years.
Survivors include her husband, Clyde Thurman of El Cajon; one daughter, Mrs. Patsy Fulmer of Spur; six sons, James L. of Suncrest, California, Lewis, Melvin, Jerry, Clyde, Jr. and Charles, all of El Cajon; her mother; one sister, Mrs. R.G. Beadle of Spur; three brothers, Lem Walden of Spur, Edward Walden and Robert Walden of Crosbyton; and nine grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Lane Bachman, Wayne Beadle, Cleddy Brooks, Clark Morgan, B.K. Putman and Grady Hurst.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery under the direction of the Chandler Funeral Home.
