Janice Carol Waggoner, a 39 year old nurse whose struggle against cancer captured the hearts of hundreds, lost the battle at 5 a.m. Thursday in Crosbyton Clinic Hospital. Her illness was diagnosed several weeks ago.

Local resident rallied behind Mrs. Waggoner and her family.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Roy Eason, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiated.

Interment was made in Spur Cemetery, under direction of Adams Funeral Home.

Born Janice Carol Price on Feb. 17, 1945, in Los Angeles, Calif., she resided in the Crosbyton area most of her life.

An LVN (licensed vocational nurse), Mrs.Waggoner served as director of nurses at Crosbyton Care Center prior to her illness. Friends hailed her dedication to residents of the care center.

She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Price of Spur; two sons, Jackie Williams and Brandon Waggoner of Crosbyton; one daughter, Cindy Williams of Crosbyton; and two brothers, Jerry Price of Irving and Fred Price of Abilene.
