Last rites for Lemuel David Walden, 59, long-time resident of Spur, were held here in the First Baptist Church Thursday, May 10 at 4:30 p.m. Conducting the services were Rev. L.R. Pendley and Rev. W.H. Causey of Brownwood, Texas.Pallbearers were Raymond Gilcrease, Richard Ensey, Jimmie Hahn, Kelcy Putman, Richard Westfall, Bailey Kimmel, Joe B. Long and Robert Thomson.
Walden was born in Oklahoma on August 4, 1896. He was wed to Mary Jobes in 1915 in Crosbyton. He lived in Dickens County for 25 years, coming here from Post.
He was a member of the Baptist Church.
His first wife preceded him in death in 1928 and in 1934 he married Ruth Causey.
Surviving Mr. Walden are his wife of Spur; two daughters, Ms. Bertie Faye Hunt of Post and Mrs. Myrtle Mae Morgan of Spur; three sons, E.B. of Crosbyton, Lee Roy, now stationed in Japan, and L.D. of Lubbock; one sister, Mrs. Iler Beadle of Spur; two brothers, Ted of Crosbyton and Bob; nine grandchildren.
Interment was in the Spur Cemetery under the direction of Chandler's Funeral Home.
