Calvin Walker

U.S.Flag Services for Calvin Frank Walker, 74, were held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. J.D. Billbroy, Big Spring, officiating, assisted by Rev. Bruce Parks, pastor of the local church. Rev. Bilbroy is a former pastor of the First Christian Church here.

Walker was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital on November 25. Time of death was listed at 8:33 a.m. He had been ill for some time.

Born March 9, 1914 in Williamson County, TX, he had been a resident of Dickens County for 17 years, moving here from Bell County. He was a dirt contractor. He married Johnnie Ruth Brown on September 10, 1940 in Coleman County.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the First Christian Church and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Ruth Walker, Spur; one son, Fred Walker, Spur; a daughter, Frankie McAlpin, Spur; three brothers, Don Walker, Granbury; Carl Walker, Taylor; J.C. Walker, Cameron; three sisters, Page Walker, Cameron; Maureen Jones, Taylor; Vurla Armstrong, Truth or Consequences, NM; and four grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell's Funeral Home.
