Funeral services for Austin W. Watson of Spur will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the First United Methodist Church in Spur with Rev. Larry Burton officiating. Burial will be in Spur Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. He died Jan. 8, 2006.
He was born Oct. 9, 1929 in Earth, Texas to Burnice Watson and Ivey Frazier Watson. He has been a resident of Dickens County for 69 years and was a retired farmer. He Married Merla Foreman June 15, 1957 in Spur. He graduated from Spur High School in 1949, attended Draughns Business College and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; and one sister.
Survivors include his wife, Merla of Spur; his son, David and daughter-in-law, Anne of Hightstown NJ; his daughter, Cyndi Watson of Apex, North Carolina; two grandsons, Andrew Rankin of Lubbock and Simon Watson of Hightstown; and one brother Kenneth Shugart of DeSoto, Texas.
