Funeral services for Thomas Benton Watson, 74, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the Spur Church of Christ with Vernon Witt Hams, minister, officiating.

A retired farmer, Mr. Watson died February 6 in the Crosbyton Hospital following a lengthy illness. He came to Dickens County in the 1920s, after coming to Texas from Alabama. He married the former Olen Dunn in 1924. She preceded him in death in 1972 and he married Velma Young in 1973.

He was former president of the Spur school board and was one of the principal organizers of the Farmer's Coop Gin and a former director of the gin. He was also active in the county 4H work where he served many years as an adult leader. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Velma Watson, Spur, a daughter, Sheila Christian, Lubbock, a son, Benton Watson, Brownfield, two stepsons, Vaughn Young, Midland and Dale Young, Plano, two sisters, Mrs. Alma McGraw, Montogomery, AL. and Mrs. Ruby Fincher, Birmingham, AL; three grandchildren and seven step grandchildren.

Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
