Effie Whitford

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Ward Funeral Home for Mrs. Effie Whitford, 53, who died Wednesday, Jan. 24 at her home at Highway.

Mrs. Whitford has been in declining health for more than a year but remained active until December 31, when she suffered a stroke of paralysis from which she failed to recover.

Effie Whitford was born December 29, 1886.

She came with her husband and family to Spur in January, 1936 from Jayton where they had resided for ten years, prior to that they had resided near Sudan where Mrs. Whitford retained membership in the Primitive Baptist Church at the time of her death.

Rev. Lowrance, minister of the Primitive Baptist Church of near Roaring Springs, conducted the service.

Surviving are six children; thee sons: Raymond, Merrill, and Clyde Whitford; three daughters, Mrs. B.P. Vardiman, Mrs. A.B. Damron and Freddie Joy Whitford.

Interment was made in Spur cemetery beside the remains of her husband who passed away August 5, 1936.
