Services for Edward Williams, 87, were held July 22, 1992, at 2 p.m. in the Highway 70 Church of Christ. Bob Brandon and Mac Williams, ministers, officiated.

Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.

Mr. Williams died July 20, 1992 at about 8:05 a.m. in Methodist Hospital, Lubbock, following a brief illness. He was born in Evant and lived in Spur from 1932 until 1988 when he moved to Lubbock. He married Gladys Johnston in Spur in January of 1939.

He was a member of the Highway 70 Church of Christ and was a deacon for many years. He was a bookkeeper and a member of the first freshman class at Texas Tech University.

Survivors include one son, E. Don Williams, Lubbock; three brothers, Robert Williams, Spur; Arvil Williams, Vernon and T.J. Williams, Goldthwaite; four sisters, Ruby Cox, Tulia; Velma Watson and Jo Nell Hardgrave, both of Goldthwaite; and Juanita Metcalf, Cincinnati, OH; two grandchildren, Kristi and Keri Morphew.

SPUR (Special) — Services for Edward Williams, 87, of Lubbock will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Spur Church of Christ with Bob Brandon, minister at Merkel Church of Christ, officiating.

Mac Williams, a nephew of the deceased, will assist, and burial will be in Spur Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeal Home.

Williams, died Monday in Lubbock's Methodist Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Evant and was a longtime Spur resident prior to moving to Lubbock in 1988. He married Gladys Johnston in 1938 in Spur. She died in 1979. He was a member of Texas Tech University's first freshman class. He was a retired bookkeeper and a longtime deacon at Spur Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, Don of Lubbock; three brothers, Robert of Spur, Arvil of Vernon and T.J. of Goldthwaite; four sisters, Ruby Cox of Tulia, Velma Watson and JoNell Hardgrave, both of Goldthwaite, and Juanita Metcalf of Cincinnati, Ohio; and two granddaughters.

The family suggests memorials to Lubbock Christian University.
